FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COLUMBUS – Ohioans For Gun Safety, the grass roots coalition working to bring common sense background checks for gun safety to our state, released the following in response to the tragic school shooting in Texas today.
“Once again, we join people around the nation and the world in sending our thoughts and prayers to families and their loved ones in the aftermath of a tragic school shooting. We also recognize that gun-related deaths occur every day, averaging more than four each day here in our home state of Ohio. Because those put in positions of trust and power to lead have failed to act, Ohioans For Gun Safety is going directly to voters to adopt common sense background checks for gun safety,” said Anne Wallace, spokesperson for Ohioans For Gun Safety.
Ohioans For Gun Safety is a grassroots organization exploring common sense background checks for gun safety in Ohio. As Ohioans and Americans, we understand that we must balance our rights and our responsibilities in order to stop gun violence and gun tragedies. By listening to and having conversations with Ohioans about their experiences and ideas, our goal is to build a broad-based, inclusive coalition that will make our state a safer place for our children and grandchildren through common sense background checks for gun safety.
